Celebrating Over a Million Miles For The Park and Ride Fleet!
Time really does fly when you’re working on the Park and Ride! At Roberts Travel Group, we’re incredibly proud of our enduring partnership with Leicestershire County Council and Leicester City Council in operating electric Park and Ride service. This week, we’re celebrating a major milestone: this ground-breaking initiative has surpassed one million electric miles!
Operating this service is an absolute pleasure. Whether we’re helping commuters on their journey into Leicester or welcoming visitors exploring our vibrant city, we’re thrilled to play a vital role in reducing congestion, improving air quality, and creating an accessible city for all. Together, we’ve built a fantastic team driving positive change in sustainable travel!
A Greener LeicesterPark and Ride services are jointly run by Leicestershire County Council and Leicester City Council, and operated by Roberts Travel Group. The service features 10 zero-emission buses, connecting Birstall, Enderby, and Meynell’s Gorse to the city centre. These state-of-the-art vehicles have transported thousands of passengers, with every ride contributing to cleaner air and smoother journeys for all.
This fleet was the first step in the £60.5m Leicester Buses Partnership-led Electric Bus Project, which now boasts 134 electric buses, accounting for over half the city’s fleet.
Stylish and Smart TravelIt’s not just about sustainability—comfort is key! These distinctive green buses, named after Leicester City Football Club’s 2021 FA Cup-winning team, offer:
- USB ports at every seat
- Free Wi-Fi
- Digital screens with next-stop announcements, voiced by BBC Radio Leicester’s Ady Dayman.
Whether you’re commuting, shopping, or visiting, your journey will be as enjoyable as it is eco-friendly.
Supporting the CommunityWe’re committed to making this service accessible and affordable:
- Day tickets cost just £3.50.
- NHS staff travel free with a valid ID.
- Children under five ride for free.
- Park and Ride sites hold the prestigious Park Mark Award, recognising safety and security.

People choosing to complete their journeys into Leicester on these electric buses not only save time and money but also help to improve our inner-city air quality and reduce congestion.
