Kynren - A Story of England

Witness King Arthur's search for the Holy Grail, the Roman conquest of Britain, and Churchill's "We shall fight on the beaches" rousing speech to the nation, as once again Eleven Arches Flatts Farm near Bishop Auckland host Kynren, “An Epic Tale of England”.

It was as recently as 2014 that philanthropist Jonathan Ruffer provided the endowment to create the epic tale, which was first performed in 2016, and ran yearly until the 2020 show was cancelled due to the pandemic.

Using a large cast of extras recruited from the surrounding villages, the unique concept involves a display of dazzling pyrotechnics, exceptional horseman, beautiful choreography, and amazing stunts.

Witnessed by an audience of thousands, the 1500 enthusiastic local volunteers will make Kynren once again a unique experience like no other.

New this year will be the “Fina and the Golden Cape”, a panoramic stage show, and the Viking Village brought to life by blacksmiths, Villagers and Viking warriors.

Local coach company Roberts Travel Group will be returning to the northeast this year, offering the opportunity to enjoy the unique Kynren experience as part of a bespoke short break. Staying in nearby Newcastle-upon-Tyne, the break will include dinner bed and breakfast, as well as entrance to the show. Although the show does not take place until 13th August, Customer Experience Manager Sam Woolley confirmed that bookings for Kynren were strong, and that the tour was already two thirds full.
