Day 1 to Ireland

We depart the Travel Centre in the early morning for the journey to Holyhead and join the ferry over the Irish Sea to Dublin. On arrival we will continue to our first hotel in Ireland, on the outskirts of West Dublin.

Day 2 Galway

This morning, the West Coast is our destination as we make our way to the charming harbour city of Galway with its colourful shop fronts curving around Galway Bay. Galway is a compact and picturesque city and has a labyrinth of cobbled streets; listen out for the Irish  music coming from one of its traditional pubs (or go in to enjoy a pint of ‘the black stuff’) and take a walk to the Salmon Weir bridge to watch the fishermen. After some time to discover this vibrant city, we continue to our hotel in Castlebar.

Day 3 Kylemore Abbey & Connemara National Park

We spend the day in Connemara in the North west corner of Co. Galway, dubbed ‘A place of savage Beauty ‘ by Oscar Wild, and translates as ‘Inlets of the sea’. Surely the highlight of today will be a visit to iconic Kylemore Abbey, one of Ireland’s most loved attractions. From its beginnings as a romantic gift in the 1860’s to becoming home to the Benedictine Nuns in 1920, Kylemore is steeped in history and intrigue with a wonderful Victorian atmosphere. We will also have a scenic drive in Connemara National park, including Killary Harbour - Ireland’s only Fjord.

Day 4 Westport

Today we visit the pretty Georgian town of Westport, which sits under the watchful eye of the mountain, Croagh Patrick on the West Coast. This is a charming town where there will be time to wander along the Mall, a delightful tree-lined promenade, and see the stone bridges arcing over the Carrowbeg River whilst the historic streets and colourful shop fronts are a delight to explore.

Day 5 Cliffs of Moher

We depart from Castlebar and make our way to the dramatic Cliffs of Moher. This spectacular natural wonder of sea cliffs rising dramatically out of the Atlantic is a sight to behold. Discover the folklore and admire the views over to the Isles of Aran whilst spotting the birdlife. After some time at the Cliffs we continue to our next hotel in Ennis, Co. Clare

Day 6 Foynes Flying Boat Museum & Adare

Our visit today is to the The Foynes Flying Boat Museum and you may be wondering what this museum is all about! Discover the era of the 1930’s and 40’s and the first transatlantic passenger flights. Hear about the legendary ‘flying boats’ that carried celebrities, Royals and refugees alike. The stories are brought to life at the museum, including that of the invention of Irish Coffee which happened here ..and we, of course, get to taste one! We also visit Adare, said to be Ireland’s prettiest Village with time to explore its little streets of  thatched cottages and craft shops.

Day 7 Kilkenny and Waterford

We depart from Co. Limerick in the morning and may our way east-bound. We will visit the town of Kilkenny where we find the ‘medieval mile’ of narrow lanes and historic building between the Castle and Cathedral before continuing to our hotel in Waterford

Day 8 Farewell to Ireland

An early morning start as we say farewell to Ireland and travel to Rosslare for the morning ferry  to Pembroke where we  continue our journey to the Travel Centre, arriving in the early evening.
