Take this opportunity to ride behind one of the few remaining Class A4 locomotives designed by Nigel Gresley. Their streamlined design made them instantly recognisable, and one of the class, 4468 Mallard, holds the world record as the fastest steam locomotive.
Saturday: We depart the Travel Centre at 9.30am and head north, stopping in Beverley en route. We then make our way to the hotel, arriving at around 3pm, with plenty of time to freshen up before dinner.
Sunday: This morning, after breakfast, we make our way to Grosmont for our train journey behind the 60009 Union of South Africa, boarding at 9.30am and returning to the station at 12 midday. We then head to York for some free time.
