Spectacular waterways and collection of enchanting destinations present classic Norwegian scenery on this unforgettable fjordland exploration. There are many highlights to discover during time spent ashore in quaint villages and Norway’s attraction-packed second city, while scenic cruising of glorious fjords will unveil an array of breath-taking sights.
Visiting Flåm affords you an opportunity to take your pick of some of the fjordland’s most incredible experiences. During your stop at this beautifully unspoilt village, you could opt to take the scenic tour to the 650-metre-high Stegastein Lookout and marvel at Sognefjord’s stunning scenery. Alternatively, perhaps you’ll choose to take a ride on the iconic Flåmsbana railway, which carves its way through magnificent mountains and by a string of impressive waterfalls. From Olden, another gorgeous fjord village, there’s plenty of spellbinding sights to uncover too. Several striking natural wonders can be reached on tours here; the astonishing Briksdal Glacier – an arm of the mighty Jostedalsbreen – and the Lovatnet Lake are just two of the scenic treasures close-by. After departing Olden via Nordfjord you’ll also have a chance to marvel at the soaring Hornelen sea cliff, as Black Watch brings you closer to this majestic natural landmark.
The memorable experiences continue during a day-long call into beautiful Bergen. This historic, Hanseatic city boasts a wealth of diverse attractions; from the UNESCO-listed Bryggen Wharf and the traditional fish market to the fascinating Troldhaugen Museum, which was once the home of legendary Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg. No time in Bergen is complete without riding the Funicular Railway to the top of the magnificent, 320-metre-high Mount Fløyen – one of Norway’s most famous attractions – to take in views of the city and its rugged surrounding landscapes. After three days in the fjordland your ship heads back to Liverpool via Scotland’s picturesque Shetland Islands. Lerwick is your gateway to the scenic splendours of the Shetlands, such as the dramatic coastal landscapes of Northmavine and RSPB Sumburgh Head, a haven for various seabird species such as fulmars, puffins and guillemots.
