Clan Chieftain Tour - Escorted Tours accompanied by Mr Harry Macpherson

Monday: We travel to holyhead for your early afternoon ferry crossing to Dublin Port. On arrival to Ireland we travel onwards to our destination in Trim and arrive at our hotel.

Tuesday: Breakfast in the hotel is followed by a morning with a visit to Powerscourt Estate, voted number 3 in the world for its splendid gardens. Set against the backdrop of Sugarloaf Mountain, Powerscourt is stunning in every season.

In the afternoon, we continue to Glendalough, an early monastic site set in a glaciated valley with two lakes. The remains include a superb round tower, stone churches and decorated crosses that date back to the 6th century. We then return to the hotel for dinner.

Wednesday: This morning we make our way to Monasterboice, one of Ireland’s earliest Christian sites. Here you can see the Round Tower, the magnificent High Crosses and the remains of two churches.

In the afternoon, we visit Newgrange then take a short drive back to the hotel for our evening meal. In the evening we will visit a local pub in Trim for some traditional Irish Music.

Thursday: Today we enjoy a full day in the city of Dublin, the capital of Ireland. Our first visit is to Teeling Whiskey Distillery. Located in the heart of Dublin City, it is the only operational distillery in Dublin, the first of its kind to open its doors in 125 years.

In the afternoon we visit the Jeanie Johnston Famine ship. Here you will get a sense of the experience of the millions of people who crossed the Atlantic Ocean in tall ships, seeking survival and hope in the ‘New World’.

Friday: After breakfast we return to Dublin City for a short guided tour before we return to Dublin Port for our return ferry crossing to Holyhead.
