Robson Green’s Northumbria and experience the magical island of Lindisfarne with its historic Pilgrims way and  views of the wonderful Bamburgh Castle

Sunday: We depart the Travel Centre this morning and make our way to Tyne & Wear with a stop en route. We aim to arrive at the hotel late afternoon.

Monday: This morning we visit the heart of Newcastle for a guided tour of the Discovery Museum, housed in the old Co-operative Wholesale Society building, Blandford House.

As you enter the museum you'll come face to face with Turbinia. Charles Parsons' 34 metre steam powered ship that was once the fastest ship in the world and an iconic part of the history of Tyneside.

Immerse yourself in the history of Newcastle and Tyneside told through permanent displays and temporary exhibitions over three floors focusing on the area's martime, scientific and technological importance to Britain and the rest of the world.

After, we take a cruise on the historic and picturesque River Tyne, the perfect experience when visiting the North East of England. Escape the hustle and bustle of the city to a place where you can take in Newcastle/Gateshead’s finest and most famous riverside scenery.

This 2 hour Return Quay to Countryside sightseeing cruise offers an unrivalled way to take in one of the North’s great cities taking you in a time machine from past to present – from the once thriving maritime heritage, to world renowned icons such as the Gateshead Millennium Bridge & Tyne Bridge.

Tuesday: Today we visit Alnwick Castle, one of Britain’s most iconic castles. The castle’s rich history is brimming with drama, intrigue, and extraordinary people; from a gunpower plotter and visionary collectors, to decadent hosts and medieval England’s most celebrated knight, Harry Hotspur. Combining magnificent medieval architecture with spectacular Italianate State Rooms, Alnwick Castle is one of the UK’s most significant heritage destinations. In recent years it has also taken starring roles in a number of film and television productions, featuring as Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in the Harry Potter films and as a location for ITV’s Downton Abbey.

Wednesday: We visit Lindisfarne Castle – from a former fort to the holiday home of a wealthy Edwardian bachelor seeking a quiet retreat from London, the idyllic location of the Castle has intrigued and inspired for centuries.
The renovation by Arts and Crafts architect Edwin Lutyens both hides and emphasizes the old fort, all the while overlooking Gertrude Jekyll’s enchanting walled garden and the unexpected grandeur of the Lime Kilns, an imposing and striking reminder of Lindisfarne’s industrial past.

Today we will also visit Bamburgh Castle. Each year the castle thrills, enthralls and captivates many thousands of visitors with its incredible history, dramatic views and treasure-trove collection of unique pieces which tell the story of Bamburgh’s many reincarnations over the centuries, from Anglo Saxon Royal palace to Victorian inventor and industrialist The First Lord Armstrong’s vision of a perfect Castle.

Thursday: We bid a fond farewell to the hotel staff as we head back this morning to Hugglescote, arriving back late afternoon.
