The Isles of Scilly

With Roberts Holidays

Prices from...

Designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and home to 2000 islanders, the Isles of Scilly are often described as 'a world apart’. Lying 28 miles off the Cornish coast, the Isles are a unique sub-tropical haven for a variety of wildlife.

Our base is the Bell Rock Hotel, Hugh Town, on St Mary’s, the largest and most vibrant of the inhabited islands. The Island capital, Hugh Town is an ideal base to enjoy mile upon mile of coastal paths and nature trails or to visit the other islands, all of which are accessible from the quay. St Mary’s has a wealth of traditional pubs, restaurants and cafes in which to relax and unwind.

Friday: We depart Hugglescote this morning and make our way to The Queens Hotel, Penzance with stops en route. We aim to arrive at the hotel late afternoon.

Saturday: We board the coach to make the short journey to the ferry port to catch The Scillonian III for our crossing over to St Mary’s. This is where our coach leaves us as we make the 2 hours 45minute journey over to the Island. We stay at the Bell Rock Hotel, St Mary’s, situated in Hugh Town, the capital of St Mary’s for the next 4 nights. A luggage transfer will be provided by a local operator whilst we make the 10-minute walk to the hotel.

Sunday: Enjoy an introductory guided tour of St Mary’s with a local coach operator. Commentary will provide an insight into life on this, the largest island in the archipelago. The rest of the day can be spent at leisure relaxing in the hotel or walking along the beach.

Monday: We depart the hotel this morning for a visit to Tresco Abbey Gardens by boat. After you disembark the boat, there will be a walk of approximately 10-15 minutes, at a leisurely pace to the gardens.

Tuesday: Why not spend the day exploring Hugh Town? It is situated between two beaches and is home to a variety of shops, art and craft galleries and restaurants. This afternoon, enjoy a stroll along the Garrison walls high above the town or simply relax on Portcressa or Town Beach.

Wednesday: Sadly, it is time to leave the tranquility of the island and make the short walk to the ferry terminal, where once again we make the journey over to the mainland and meet our waiting coach. We then make our way to The Queen’s Hotel, Penzance.

Thursday: We depart the hotel and make our way back to Hugglescote, making a lunch stop en route.
