Situated in the middle of the Devon Countryside, Tiverton is an ideal base for exploring all the area’s wonderful attractions. This tour features a ride on the West Somerset Railway by steam train, a stately home, a lovely river cruise and visit to Sidmouth’s delightful Donkeys.
Monday: We depart the Travel Centre this morning and make our way south with comfort stops en route, arriving at the hotel late afternoon.
Tuesday: Today we board the coach and make the short journey to the Tiverton Museum of Devon Life, which houses excellent collections of artefacts and photographs of the Mid Devon area from the past 150 years. We then travel to the imposing, grand Gothic-styled manor house of Knightshayes where we enjoy a guided tour.
Wednesday: This morning we travel to Bishops Lydeard for a steam train journey on the UK’s longest heritage railway, West Somerset Railway. After a visit to its Gauge Museum on Platform 1, we embark on a relaxing journey through the stunning countryside to Minehead. After, we head to the picturesque town of Lynmouth.
Thursday: Today we travel to Exmouth for a circular cruise on the River Exe. We sail the calm and sheltered waters whilst our skipper provides us with live commentary on the local area. Following our boat trip, we make our way to Sidmouth where we have time at leisure before visiting The Donkey Sanctuary.
Friday: This morning we bid a fond farewell to the hotel and make our way back to Hugglscote, with comfort stops en route.
