St Agnes - Picturesque Poldark's Cornwall

With Roberts Travel Group

Prices from...

£575.00

Since the first publication of Winston Graham’s Poldark novels, the stories and characters have become synonymous with the drama and romanticism of the coast of Cornwall, its mining heritage, great fortunes and struggles, against a backdrop of diverse sea states and the hardships of living in remote, rural Georgian Britain.

You can now gain a flavour of what it was like to live in the Cornwall of the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries and “live the dream” as we are accompanied by a Blue Badge guide for a day.

Saturday: We depart the Travel Centre this morning and make our way to St Agnes with a stop en route. We aim to arrive at the hotel late afternoon.

Sunday: Today we visit Poldark Mine, the only complete tin mine in Cornwall which is generally regarded as one of the most historic locations in the annals of Cornish Mining History. After we visit the picturesque fishing harbour and seaside town of St Ives, the dazzling jewel in Cornwall’s crown.

Monday: Today we visit beautiful St Mawes, a small fishing village nestled at the end of the Roseland peninsula.

Tuesday: Today we meet our Blue Badge Guide for a Poldark themed tour, taking in many places and inspirations for Winston Graham’s novels.

Wednesday: Today we visit the town of Padstow, said to be Cornwall’s premier destination.  After, we visit Boscastle, a tiny port with a natural harbour, set in a narrow ravine, boasting some very attractive thatches and white-washed cottages.

Thursday:  Today we visit Mevagissey, an attractive old town which was once the centre of Cornwall’s pilchard fishery and which still boasts a working harbour. This afternoon can be spent at leisure in St Agnes.

Friday: We bid a fond farewell to the hotel staff as we head back this morning to Hugglescote, arriving back late afternoon
