Located within easy reach of the British Isles, neatly positioned just 31 miles from England and 31 miles from Ireland, you’ll find the beautiful Island paradise that is the Isle of Man.
It’s far enough to give you that relaxed holiday feeling but close enough to give you the reassurance that you’re never too far from home, and with a temperate climate all year round – what are you waiting for? There’s a true Manx welcome waiting for you……with proof that the best things really do come in small packages.
Friday: We depart Hugglescote this morning and head for Heysham to catch our afternoon ferry for the 3 ½ hour journey to Douglas, also home to our hotel, The Rutland.
Saturday: We depart the hotel this morning for the Silverdale Glen complex where we visit Manx Ices for a guided tour. Powered by a refurbished 18th Century waterwheel, learn how historical methods are used in modern day production. We then continue to the ancient capital of Castletown to see the wonderfully preserved Castle Rushen. Next is a visit to Port Erin, nestling in its scenic bay. From here, step back in time and hop aboard the island’s Steam Railway for the journey back to Douglas.
Sunday: Today we travel across the scenic centre of the island to the sleepy town of Peel, said to be the best example of a typical Manx town, with its dramatic castle. This afternoon allows for free time in Douglas.
Monday: First stop today is the Laxey for an included visit of ‘Lady Isabella’ the world’s largest working waterwheel and perhaps the best-known image of the Island. We continue to Ramsey, the main town to the north of the island, where we include admission to the beautifully maintained Milntown Gardens.
Tuesday: We say farewell to the hotel and head for the ferry port for our journey back to Heysham, we arrive back at Hugglescote early evening.
