Transport Planner

We have an extensive fleet of executive vehicles which helps us to service a wide range of activities across all aspects of bus and coach travel.

The role will be based at the Roberts Travel Group HQ in Hugglescote, Leicestershire, and sits within our internal Operations department, who are responsible for managing the transport logistics throughout the business. With previous experience within a busy transport oganisation, this role will see you play a key part in ensuring the daily schedule is achieved, that all drivers receive the correct information packs and communicate with various internal teams to ensure the success of jobs.


What will the role entail?

Working as our Transport Planner, you can expect the following to be your main duties & responsibilities:

  • Ensure the daily transport plan is achieved economically and meets all SLA targets
  • Ensure all drivers receive their driver packs which includes work tickets, keys, fuel cards and maps to ensure the vehicles leave site and reach the destination smoothly
  • Escalate vehicle defects to the Transport Management Team
  • Effective management and planning of drivers
  • Controlling and planning an agreed amount of resource ensuring all legal requirements are adhered to
  • Keep our internal tracking systems organised and updated
  • Day to day scheduling and routing of all vehicles
  • Carry out vehicle and driver compliance checks
  • Monitor drivers hours by downloading vehicle tachograph units
  • Resolve customer complaints
  • Communicate with our customer service teams and drivers to ensure customer KPI’s and targets are achieved and maintained
  • Assist the operations manager in any other tasks within your department
A little bit about you:
  • At least 2 years’ experience in a transport or logistics role
  • Good geographical knowledge
  • Coach Manager or coach allocation experience
  • Operators CPC licence desirable but not essential (training will be provided)
  • Be able to work under pressure and have the ability to remain calm in a busy environment
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Ability to comfortable organise your own workload to meet key deadlines
  • PC literate with working knowledge of Word and Excel
