The Grimethorpe Colliery band was formed in 1917 as a leisure activity for the workmen at the colliery. International fame came to the band with the making of the 1995 film ‘Brassed Off’ where the band provided the soundtrack to the film. Since the release of the film the band has toured extensively in Europe, including a film festival in Norway, the World Cup in Paris and the Eurovision Song Contest to an estimated television audience of 50 million!

Saturday: We depart Hugglescote this morning and make a stop for lunch before making our way to the hotel. Once we have unpacked and freshened up, dinner will be served at 4.30pm, before we make our way to the Platform – a unique live entertainment venue situated in a restored Edwardian railway station on Morecambe promenade for the evening performance by Grimethrope Band, for the 7.30pm performance.

Sunday: After breakfast this morning, we depart the hotel making our way south through the Peak District to Bakewell for some free time, whilst here we will have an afternoon tea. We arrive back at the Travel Centre early evening.

The Auckland Hotel**

This well-established, family-run hotel is situated on the seafront, Central Promenade and with spectacular views of the Bay and Lakeland Hills. It is within easy reach of all the main amenities and shops. The newly refurbished Promenade offers an interesting level walk around the Bay with its much-acclaimed Eric Morecambe Statue, Tern Project and Stone Jetty

All 55 bedrooms are en suite with tea/coffee making facilities and television. There is lift access to the first and second floor. Some rooms do have a few steps to from the lift, but there are some ground floor rooms on request. There is free WiFi throughout the hotel.
