This exciting journey takes you through the breathtaking scenery of Northumbria and the Scottish Borders through to Edinburgh and then across Scotland to Fort William and Arrochar and then south along the Ayrshire and Dumfriesshire coastline.
Sunday: We depart the Travel Centre this morning and make a lunchtime stop in York before we travel on to our overnight hotel in the Newcastle/Durham area.
Monday: Today we drive through the lovely scenery to Tweedbank in the Scottish Borders. Here we’ll board a train to travel Scotland’s newest route, the Borders Line. On arriving in Edinburgh, there will free time in Edinburgh before we travel on towards the Highlands and our hotel in Arrochar for the next two nights.
Tuesday: We board a morning train for a ride through the Highlands to Fort William, enjoying lovely views for almost the entire journey. After time in the town we travel back to Arrochar by coach, through the spectacular Pass of Glencoe.
Wednesday: Today the scenery continues as we travel down Loch Lomond, stopping in the ‘take the high road’ village of Luss. Heading south we journey through Ayrshire to Dumfries & Galloway and the town of Stranraer. We will stay here for the next 3 nights.
Thursday: Today we have some free in Stranraer. The town has an interesting Museum and Tower.
Friday: Our final train journey takes us from Stranraer, through the attractive local scenery to the Troon on the Ayrshire coast, where there are pleasant sea views. We meet the coach before joining the coach for a visit to dramatic Culzean Castle before returning to Stranraer.
Saturday: Today we take a delightful journey through Dunfries & Galloway, with a stop in Dumfries where Robbie Burns spent his final years. We then continue through the Lake District to our final overnight stay.
Sunday: This morning we have bid a fond farewell to the hotel and head back to Hugglscote with comfort stops on the way.
