Day 1: We depart the Travel Centre this morning and arrive at our overnight destination in Germany in time for dinner this evening.
Day 2: Arrive in Tyrol and check in at the hotel Jenbacherhof in Jenbach. You will be greeted by
you Travel Partner tour guide. We will enjoy a welcome drink followed by dinner.
Day 3: After a morning at leisure, we travel down the Inn Valley to Jenbach and join the original
Achenseebahn cog railway, which dates back to 1889. These are some of the oldest steam
engines in the world still to be used for public transport. The train winds its way up above the
Inn Valley to the shores of the largest alpine lake in the Tyrol, Lake Achen. Perhaps take a boat
Cruise, or enjoy a stroll by the lake.
Day 4: On July 31st, 1902 this wonderful narrow gauge steam train made its first journey from Jenbach to Mayrhofen. It was almost closed in 1965 to make way for a new road which was being
constructed. Fortunately saved, it still operates along the Ziller Valley to this day. Today we ride on this nostalgic train from Fügen to Mayrhofen, and enjoy a little schnapps and some folk music along
the way. En route back to your hotel make a stop at Rattenberg, the oldest and smallest town
in the Tyrol, known today as the Tyrolean home of glass and crystal.
Day 5: Today we enjoy a day at leisure.
Day 6: The hills are alive with the sound of music. Visit Salzburg, the Mozart capital of the world and
home of the ever-popular movie “The Sound of Music”. The guided walking tour of this magical
city will show you some of the many highlights. There will be free time in the city for shopping
and sightseeing. We return to our hotel for a special Bingo night with your tour guide.
Day 7: For more than 100 years this narrow gauge railway has been winding along the picturesque
Salzach Valley to the Hohe Tauern National Park and the Krimml Waterfalls. These falls are the
highest in Europe and the 5th highest in the world. Walk down to the base of the falls or follow
the trail up the side for a close-up experience of this breath-taking spectacle. This is a must for
photographers and nature lovers.
Day 8: After breakfast we depart the hotel and make our way back to Germany for our overnight hotel.
Day 9: We depart this morning and head back to Calais for our journey home.
